apple cobbler


this recipe is good for 4/6 people or you by yourself when you've had a rough day

4 large Granny Smith apples

4 large Red Delicious apples

2 tablespoons of vanilla extract

2 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice

1 cup of white sugar

1 cup of brown sugar

½ stick of butter

2 tablespoons of flour

2 tablespoons of ground cinnamon

1 teaspoon of nutmeg

2 whole eggs beaten up with a teaspoon of water mixed in

Pie Crust

Well … because I am pie crust afflicted, nine times out of ten I use the Jiffy Pie Crust mix! You are free to make your own, homemade pie crust but I always cheat on this part! Lol You need enough pie crust for top and bottom.

I know a cobbler is only supposed to have crust or some kind of crumble on top but I LOVE crust so I put pie crust (uncooked) on the bottom of the dish. I guess you could technically call this a deep dish pie as opposed to a cobbler. But whatever you call it, it’s DELICIOUS!

Place the uncooked pie crust on the bottom of your dish. Place your sliced, peeled apples on top of the crust. Mix the white sugar, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon and nutmeg together and sprinkle all over the apples. Sprinkle the vanilla extract and lemon juice all over the apples. Cut up the butter and place all over the apples. Place the second pie crust over the top, tuck it around the edges and with a knife cut three or four slits through the top crust. Brush the crust with the beaten egg.

Bake for 30/40 minutes at 350 degrees.
